Bacardi Adds To Rum Stable With Mixology-Driven Banks Brand

Bacardi Ltd. has acquired the Banks rum brand for an undisclosed sum. Founded by master blender Arnaud de Trabuc in 2008, Port Louis, Mauritius-based Banks rum specializes in super-premium blends sourced from various locations, such as Trinidad, Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, Guatemala, Panama and Java. The range includes Banks 5-Island Rum ($29.99), which features 21 rums from six distilleries; Banks 7 Golden Age Blend ($32.99), made with 23 rums from eight distilleries; and a variety of limited editions. The brand sells around 6,000 cases annually. In addition to Banks, Bacardi Ltd.’s rum portfolio includes its flagship Bacardi franchise, as well as the Castillo and Facundo Rum Collection brands.
