Brown-Forman Breaks Ground On Old Forester Distillery Despite Recent Whiskey Row Fire
July 23, 2015Brown-Forman has started construction on its new Old Forester Distillery, located on Louisville, Kentucky’s “Whiskey Row” at 117 and 119 West Main Street. Originally slated to be completed by fall 2016, the $30 million project was recently delayed by a fire that damaged adjacent buildings, which has pushed the distillery’s opening to 2017.
Once completed, the Old Forester Distillery will house fermentation, distilling, barrel making, filling and dumping and bottling operations, and allow the brand to double its current production. Old Forester Bourbon ($25 a 750-ml.) was up 16% to 110,000 cases in the U.S. last year, and in March, Brown-Forman announced plans to grow the brand past the 500,000-case mark over the next five years.
