Control State Spirits Sales Perk Up In June
July 24, 2015Control state spirits volume grew 2.5% in the first half of 2015, with June’s results representing an acceleration in growth, according to NABCA. Aggregate control state spirits sales surpassed 4 million cases last month—the first time that threshold had ever been crossed in June.
On a rolling 12-month basis, spirits were up 2.8% by volume through June, while value is up 5.5%, including a 6% rise last month. Irish whiskey jumped 20% in control states last month (compared with its 12-month trend of +13%), and vodka grew 2.8%, compared with a 12-month rate of 2.2%. Nearly all spirits categories bested their 12-month trends in June. Meanwhile, control state wine growth slowed to a rolling 12-month rate of 1.3% from 1.4% a month earlier.
