With Private Equity Investment, Domaine Select Will Expand Wholesale Arm, Spirits Stable

August 4, 2015

New York-based importer and distributor Domaine Select Wine Estates has forged a new partnership with Miami-based private equity group Walden Capital Management. Concurrent with Walden’s investment, the company has been renamed Domaine Select Wine & Spirits (DSWS) and will now comprise three divisions: Classic & Vintage, for artisan spirits, sake and Japanese spirits; A+ Pure Wine for boutique fine wines; and Domaine Select Estates for chateau and estate-level producers.

DSWS’s distribution business, DSMerchants, plans to take over restaurant and retail distribution of the company’s brands in key U.S. markets. DSMerchants is currently active in New York and New Jersey, and DSWS founder and CEO Paolo Domeneghetti tells SND the company will expand its wholesale operations in New Jersey immediately. DSWS also intends to broaden its import portfolio, particularly in spirits, which currently account for around 40% of the business.
