Total Wine & More is set to open its 119th location in Milford, Connecticut on August 26. Located at 230 Cherry Street in a former movie theater site, the new store joins Total Wine’s existing Connecticut locations in Norwalk and Manchester. The retailer’s expansion in Connecticut comes in concert with the state’s relaxation of its liquor retail chain restrictions. On July 1, Connecticut raised the number of liquor licenses per person from three to four and allowed liquor stores an additional hour of operation—pushing mandatory closing time to 10 p.m. MondaySaturday and to 6 p.m. on Sunday. In addition, 64-ounce growler sales were legalized under the changes.

•French spirits producer Maison Ferrand has extended its Plantation rum range with Pineapple Stiggins’ Fancy Rum, a new annual limited edition. A joint project between Maison Ferrand proprietor Alexandre Gabriel and spirits historian and Whisky Advocate contributor David Wondrich, the rum is crafted with Queen Victoria pineapples from Reunion Island. Plantation Pineapple Stiggins’ Fancy Rum is currently launching nationwide, priced at $34.99 a 750-ml.
