September 3, 2015•Bacardi Ltd.’s John Dewar & Sons unit has unveiled The Deveron, a new range of single malt Scotches. Produced at the MacDuff distillery in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, The Deveron lineup includes 12-year-old and 18-year-old expressions rolling out in markets such as the U.S., U.K., Canada and Germany, among others.
•Online cocktail delivery service Cocktail Courier is rolling out nationwide this month following a limited launch last year. The company offers cocktail kits with pre-measured ingredients including liquor. Its new national cocktail list features recipes like the Moscow Mule, Margarita and Fallin’ South Old Fashioned. Cocktails start at $4.99 a drink, with four to eight drinks per order, and ground shipping is available in the U.S. for $9.99 a box. Shipments arrive within two to three days in most markets and expedited shipping is available for $13.99 a box.
•Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada has created a new Beverage Learning Center at its Academy of Beverages and Fine Service in Las Vegas. The custom-built space features workstations built in an ergonomic “racetrack” design for speed and efficiency, and will feature classes by Francesco Lafranconi, creator of SWS-Nevada’s Spirits and Mixology Program, among other experts. Southern expects the new Learning Center to “become a leading draw for beverage and hospitality professionals from around the world.”
•Chopin Imports Ltd. is set to become the national sales and distribution agent for upscale Tequila Clase Azul. The multi-year agreement will see Chopin handle Clase Azul’s namesake brand, as well as its La Pinta pomegranate liqueur ($40). Clase Azul is currently at around 10,000 cases, and Chopin tells SND it hopes to double its volume within two years. The Clase Azul lineup includes Plata ($80), Reposado ($100), Mezcal ($250), Anejo ($500) as well as its Clase Azul Ultra ($1,800), which is aged five years in Spanish sherry casks and packaged in a decanter featuring platinum and 24-carat gold.
