Rising Craft Brewer Green Flash Details Expansion Plans, Names COO
September 4, 2015With growth ongoing, San Diego’s Green Flash Brewing says it expects to reach its current 100,000-barrel production capacity in the fourth quarter of this year. The craft brewer is now developing a new brewery in Virginia Beach, which will begin production with a 50,000-barrel output next year and eventually expand to 100,000 barrels.
While draft currently accounts for 60% of its business, Green Flash has made off-premise gains a priority this year. This summer, it launched six-packs of its West Coast Double IPA, Soul Style IPA and Hop Odyssey series nationally, and is targeting a 20% increase in off-premise business as a result. Meanwhile, Green Flash will ramp up production of brews from Alpine Beer Co., which it acquired a year ago, with expanded draft and select 22-ounce bottles rolling out in the fourth quarter.
To manage its growth agenda, Green Flash has appointed Chris Ross—formerly a senior exec with Novatel, Ericsson and Qualcomm—as COO.
