October 14, 2015•The Bronx Brewery has rolled out its four year-round beers in six-packs of 12-ounce cans, transitioning from its former four-packs of 16-ounce cans. The change also includes a new packaging design with an updated brand logo and imagery highlighting the company’s industrial setting in the South Bronx. The brewer’s 12-ounce canned offerings include Bronx American Pale Ale, Rye Ale, Belgian Pale Ale and Session IPA, which are available on- and off-premise in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The company says sales of its canned offerings are currently up 46% year-on-year.
•Houston’s Saint Arnold Brewing Company is launching Art Car IPA in 12-ounce cans. The release marks Saint Arnold’s first offering packaged exclusively in cans and on draft. Art Car IPA (7.1% abv) is made with Columbus, Cascade and Simcoe hops and dry-hopped with Amarillo, Simcoe and Mosaic hops with two-row pale, Cara 45 and Carafoam malts. It joins Saint Arnold’s other IPAs such as Elissa IPA and Endeavour Double IPA, and is available in six-packs of 12-ounce cans throughout Texas.
•Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) chairman Kurt Widmer will retire from the company’s board of directors at the end of the year. Widmer has served as chairman since the formation of CBA in 2008, when Pacific Northwest craft brewers Redhook Brewery and Widmer Brothers merged. Following his retirement from CBA’s board, which has yet to name a replacement, he will assume the honorary title of chairman emeritus.
