October 22, 2015•Tennessee-based WG Brewing Company is launching a new alcoholic root beer, Wild Root. The newcomer, which is at 5% abv, initially will debut in six-packs of 12-ounce cans ($9.99-$10.99) across Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, Arkansas, Florida and West Virginia, with national distribution expected early next year. Wild Root is the sister brand of WG’s flagship Wild Ginger Beer, introduced earlier this year.
•Easton, Pennsylvania’s Weyerbacher Brewing Company is releasing Double IPA #1, the first beer in its new small-batch IPA series. The 9%-abv India Pale Ale is brewed with Cascade, Simcoe and Mosaic hops. Double IPA #1 will be available in Pennsylvania, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Connecticut, upstate New York and North Carolina. Weyerbacher’s new revolving IPA series will feature four new seasonal releases—two double IPAs in the fall and winter and two IPAs in the spring and summer. The company’s year-round lineup includes Blithering Idiot, Double Simcoe IPA, Last Chance IPA, Merry Monks, Tarte Nouveau and Tiny Imperial Stout.
•Hooksett, New Hampshire-based White Birch Brewing is expanding its production capacity, ordering five new 60-barrel tanks and doubling its canning line speed to 60 cans per minute. The expansion will increase production from 500 barrels of beer in 2014 to 7,000 barrels this year ahead of a planned rise to 20,000 barrels in 2016. White Birch beers can be found in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois. The company’s year-round brews include Belgian Style Pale Ale, Hop Session Ale, Berliner Weisse, Blueberry Berliner Weisse, Raspberry Berliner Weisse and Double IPA.
