December 14, 2015•Upper Hand Brewery is adding Yooper Ale to its year-round lineup. Previously available only on draft, Yooper Ale is set to debut in bottles this January. The 4%-abv entry, which is billed as a sessionable Pale Ale, marks the fourth expression in Upper Hand’s year-round portfolio, joining UPA (Upper Peninsula Ale), Escanaba Black Beer and Upper Hand Lager. Upper Hand Brewery is a division of Michigan’s Bell’s Brewery Inc., the seventh-largest craft brewer in the U.S., according to the Brewers Association.
•Corvallis, Oregon-based 2 Towns Ciderhouse has launched the 2013 vintage of its Pommeau port-style cider. Made with Dabinette, Porter’s Perfection and Kingston Black apples, among other varieties, the 19%-abv expression is lightly fermented, transferred to oak barrels, fortified with apple brandy and then aged for more than a year. 2 Towns’ 2013 Pommeau is limited to 500 cases of 375-ml. bottles, which will be available throughout Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada, Minnesota and Chicago.
