Constellation Extends Mark West With Black Pinot Noir

Constellation Brands has added a new Black Pinot Noir extension to the Mark West brand line. Retailing at around $14 a 750-ml., Mark West Black Pinot Noir is described as a more ripe and highly concentrated style than the brand’s core California Pinot Noir expression. Acquired by Constellation from Purple Wine Co. in 2012, Mark West surged from 2010-2014, growing 70%. Last year progress slowed, however, with the brand up 2% to 855,000 cases, according to Impact Databank.
