Special Report: The Future Of Craft Distilling
February 11, 2016In 2003, there were 60 craft distillers operating in the United States. Today, that total is 760, according to the American Distilling Institute (ADI), and a further 200 are currently under construction. Craft spirits’ market share has doubled in the past two years, and the ADI estimates that current annual growth is around 30%. Some analysts believe that craft’s share could hit 8% by 2020, approaching the levels achieved by craft beer. Meanwhile, mainstream spirits players are on the craft acquisition trail, creating a transformational moment for the U.S. industry.
