Diageo Debuts Archival Guinness Porters In U.S.

February 24, 2016

Diageo is introducing two archival Guinness recipes in the U.S. market as part of its Brewers Project, which showcases new and reinterpreted beers from the iconic Irish brewery. Guinness’s newcomers include a Dublin Porter (3.8% abv) and a West Indies Porter (6% abv), the latter being a precursor to core Guinness brew Foreign Extra Stout. The Dublin and West Indies Porters are rolling out nationally at retailers Costco, Sam’s, BJ’s and Total Wine & More in 11.2-ounce bottles, marketed alongside Guinness Extra Stout in the brand’s Brewers Project Pack, which retails at about $22. Over the year through December 27, Guinness Draught rose 0.6% to 1.5 million (2.25-gallon) cases in IRI channels, while Extra Stout increased 7.2% to 916,000 cases.
