The Mark Wine Group Adds Charles Smith Wines To Portfolio, Targets 280,000 Cases
March 16, 2016Austin, Texas-based wine sales and marketing firm The Mark Wine Group has unveiled a new partnership with Washington state’s Charles Smith Wines, and will begin representing the group’s Charles Smith Wines, ViNO, Wines of Substance, K Vintners, SIXTO and Casa Smith brands in on-premise national accounts this month. Established in 2006 in Walla Walla, Charles Smith Wines is among the largest independent wineries in Washington, selling more than 750,000 cases annually.
Charles Smith joins The Hess Collection, Mionetto USA, Hahn Family Wines, Hundred Acre Wine Group and Vintage Point, among other producers, in The Mark Wine Group’s stable. The Texas marketer—which specializes in connecting family-owned and independent wineries to a network of more than 150 national restaurant and hotel chain partners—has posted steady growth of late, rising 30% to hit 235,000 cases in 2015. For 2016, the company is on track to sell 280,000 cases on 20% growth. Founder and president Mark Gmur tells SND he’s targeting 1 million cases by 2020.
