The Winebow Group Enters California Wholesale Market, Acquiring Henry Wine Group

The Winebow Group continues to expand its middle-tier presence across the U.S., acquiring fine wine distributor The Henry Wine Group, based in Benicia, California, for an undisclosed sum.

Warner Henry, who built The Henry Wine Group over three decades, will remain an advisor, and company president and CEO Ed Hogan will stay on to manage day-to-day operations. The Winebow Group has also acquired Henry Wine subsidiary Zephyr Express, a statewide logistics network managing the storage and delivery of fine wine in California.

With the addition of the Golden State, The Winebow Group now has distribution operations in 20 states. In a recent interview with SND, Winebow Group president and CEO David Townsend discussed the company’s aggressive expansion within the wholesale tier, which in addition to California has included moves into Minnesota, Wisconsin and Washington in the past year. —Daniel Marsteller
