August 23, 2016•Francis Ford Coppola Winery has unveiled its Director’s Great Movies range, a limited edition lineup featuring classic film-themed labels. An offshoot of the winery’s Director’s Collection, the Director’s Great Movies series comprises three entries, including Jaws, a 2015 Chardonnay; King Kong, a 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon; and The Wizard Of Oz, a 2014 Merlot. Each expression features a movie poster-style label created by artist Laurent Durieux and retails at around $21-$24 a 750-ml.
•William Grant & Sons has extended its spicy chile liqueur brand Ancho Reyes with the launch of Ancho Reyes Verde, a new limited release. While both the original Ancho Reyes and its Verde offshoot are made with poblano chiles, the chiles used in Verde are harvested earlier, while they are still green, and then fire roasted, resulting in a “fresh, bright and herbal” flavor profile. Ancho Reyes Verde will be available solely throughout the New York metro area starting in September, retailing at around $33 a bottle.
•Pabst Brewing Co. has added Dog Tag Brewing to its distribution portfolio. Dog Tag, which donates 100% of after-tax profits to charities created or selected by the U.S. military’s Gold Star Families, is rolling out through Pabst in 26 states this fall, with national distribution to follow next year. Dog Tag’s Legacy Lager is a 5% abv brew made with 2-row pale and specialty malts and Magnum and Saaz hops, which is available in four-packs of 16-ounce cans.
