Impact Databank Projects 2.5% Growth For U.S. Spirits Market
December 16, 2016The U.S. spirits market is on pace to advance by 2.5% to 221 million nine-liter cases this year, according to Impact Databank projections, following a five-year period in which the market averaged 2.4% annual growth. The U.S. spirits category has enjoyed an unprecedented upswing, achieving growth for 20 consecutive years from 1995 to 2015.
Both white spirits and whisk(e)y are on pace for solid gains this year, Impact Databank projects. Whisk(e)y is expected to advance by nearly 3% to just under 60 million cases, due largely to the ongoing expansion of the flavored segment. Meanwhile, white spirits are projected to increase by 2.4% to more than 122 million cases. —Peter Zwiebach
