Craft Brewing and Distilling News for March 2, 2017

•UK-based Halewood Wine & Spirits has entered the beer category with the purchase of a controlling stake in Hawkshead Brewery, a regional brewer based in northern England’s Lake District. According to its website, Hawkshead makes around 20,000 liters of beer a week, or roughly a million liters a year. As part the the deal, Halewood will help finance construction of a new brewery to expand capacity, while also expanding Hawkshead’s routes to market. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
