•The craft beer industry grew steadily in volume and market value in 2016, according to the Brewers Association’s data, albeit at a slower pace than in previous years. Retail value of American craft beer rose 10% to $23.5 billion, making up 22% of the total beer market. Meanwhile, craft beer production rose 6% to 24.6 million barrels last year, comprising a 12.3% volume share of the total beer industry. In 2015, craft beer’s retail value had expanded by 16%, while volume advanced by 13%. The number of breweries operating in the U.S. grew 17% to 5,301 last year, with 826 new breweries opening and only 97 closing.

•Bear Republic Brewing Company is offering its Fastback Racer Double IPA in bottles as a spring seasonal entry. The 10.4%-abv beer, brewed with Citra and Ekuanot hops, was previously only available on draught. Six-packs and 22-ounce bottles will be for sale throughout Bear Republic’s distribution area beginning in April 1. Bear Republic is hosting a tasting and launch party at the Healdsburg, California brewpub this Friday, March 31.
