Craft Brewing and Distilling News for April 6, 2017
April 6, 2017•This month, Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan will release a limited-edition beer based on a 1950s-era recipe. Weihenstephaner Kristallweizenbock is a filtered, highly hopped take on the weizenbock style. It’s brewed with opal and emerald hops to match the ‘crystal’ beer’s name. Kristallweizenbock, the brewer said, is hoppier than the brewery’s year-round weizenbock, Vitus, but is still a highly drinkable wheat beer. The 7.5%-abv brew, imported by Total Beverage Solution, is a one-time release and will be distributed nationally until supplies are depleted. Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan claims to be the world’s oldest operating brewery, founded by Benedictine monks in 1040.
