April 7, 2017•California’s Rutherford Wine Company has extended its Predator Wines range with the launch of Six Spot Red Wine. Sourced from Lodi, Six Spot is a blend of Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Malbec aged in French oak. The 13.5%-abv entry, which retails at $16 a 750-ml., joins Predator’s existing Old Vine Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. The rollout is intended to tap rising demand for red blends in the $15+ range, which grew 23% in Nielsen channels during the 52 weeks ended January 28.
•Christophe Navarre, CEO of Moët Hennessy, has been named president of Vinexpo’s Supervisory Board, succeeding Xavier de Eizaguirre. Navarre, who has led Moët Hennessy since 2001, brings in-depth knowledge of the global wine and spirits market to Vinexpo, which will hold its biannual event in Bordeaux June 18-21. Concurrently, Vinexpo’s Supervisory Board is welcoming two new members: Philippe Castéja, President of Borie-Manoux and of the Conseil des Crus Classés 1855; and Philippe Guigal from Rhône producer E. Guigal. In partnership with Wine Spectator, Vinexpo Bordeaux 2017 will feature an exclusive food and wine event titled “A Taste of Spain” on Monday, June 19, from 8 to 11 p.m. at Bordeaux’s Palais de la Bourse.
