Beam Suntory Up By Mid-Single Digits In U.S. Halfway Through 2017
August 9, 2017Beam Suntory’s U.S. business posted a mid-single-digit sales increase in the six months through June, driving progress for the company’s Americas region. The group’s core Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark Bourbons continued to lead the way, with both brands achieving double-digit growth across Beam Suntory’s global business.
Jim Beam saw its U.S. volume grow by 9% in IRI channels in the 28 weeks through July 16, and the brand rose by 6% in control states in the year-to-date through June. Maker’s Mark was up 9% in IRI and 7% in control states during the same time period. Sauza Tequila has also been contributing strong results for Beam Suntory so far this year, up 16% in both IRI and control state channels.
Overall, Suntory Holdings’ beverage alcohol unit—which also includes global beer and wine interests—saw sales increase 3.1% to ¥480.5 billion ($3.7b) in the first half, while operating income grew 6.1% to ¥41.9 billion ($322m).
