Hennessy Unveils New Bottling Facility Aimed At Bolstering Supply
October 19, 2017LVMH’s Hennessy has opened its new bottling facility and announced plans to address its Cognac shortage. The company’s new 280,000-square-foot Pont Neuf facility will allow the brand to bottle an additional 20,000 nine-liter cases a day, which will give it the capability to produce around 10 million cases annually by 2020, up from 7 million cases currently. The company also announced that it will plant additional grapes in some of the under-used areas of Cognac to bolster its reserves as the brand faces shortages due to soaring demand, especially for its VS variety. Hennessy was up 22% to 3.7 million cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank, with its retail value reaching nearly $1.6 billion.—Shane English
