LVMH Takes 60% Stake In Napa Valley’s Colgin Cellars
November 21, 2017Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton has agreed to acquire a 60% stake in Napa Valley winery Colgin Cellars. Ann Colgin and her husband Joe Wender will retain a 40% stake in the business and maintain their leadership roles at the luxury producer. COO Paul Roberts and winemaker Allison Tauziet will also stay on.
LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault said the new stake in Colgin “reaffirms our strategy of selective acquisition of the best existing terroirs, and enriching our collection of iconic wines.” LVMH’s prestige wine stable also includes Château Cheval Blanc, Château d’Yquem and Domaine du Clos des Lambrays among others. The company’s Napa portfolio also includes Newton and Chandon.
Founded by Ann Colgin 25 years ago, Colgin Cellars is located in the Pritchard Hill area of Napa Valley. Its portfolio includes Tychson Hill Cabernet Sauvignon ($550), Cariad Napa Valley Red Wine ($550), IX Estate Napa Valley Red Wine ($550) and IX Estate Syrah ($315). All four regularly receive scores of 90 points or above from Wine Spectator.—Daniel Marsteller
