January 10, 2018•Table wine imports into the United States increased by 4.1% to 95 million nine-liter case shipments in the eleven-month period ending in November, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. Bottled shipments from New Zealand once again outpaced most major imports, rising by 5.3% to 4.6 million cases through November. New Zealand is the U.S. market’s fifth-largest table wine import country, behind Italy, Australia, Chile and France. Bottled New Zealand wines in the U.S. are estimated to have topped 5 million cases last year for the first time ever, according to Impact Databank. Constellation Brands’ Kim Crawford is by far the largest-selling New Zealand wine in the U.S. and is estimated to have surpassed 25% share of the bottled New Zealand import category this past year.
