Highland Park Launches New 17-Year-Old, Backed By NYC Pop-Up
June 21, 2018Edrington’s Highland Park single malt Scotch brand is introducing The Light, a limited-edition 17-year-old expression retailing at $300 a 750-ml. Bottled at 52.9% abv, The Light is matured entirely in refill American oak casks. The new release is a follow-up on last year’s The Dark limited edition, which was matured in first-fill European oak Sherry casks. The Light is hitting U.S. specialty retailers in the U.S. in a supply of 4,500 bottles. To back the launch, Highland Park is operating an “Orkadia” pop-up installation in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal through Friday. Created in partnership with landscape architect Lily Kwong, the installation will offer tastings and an immersive experience evocative of Highland Park’s home in the Orkney Isles. Highland Park grew 21% to 23,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank. —Daniel Marsteller
