September 5, 2018Angel’s Envy Bourbon, part of the Bacardi portfolio, is reportedly planning a new distillery project in Henry County, Kentucky. The proposed facility will sit on 350 acres of land and include five warehouses capable of storing up to 225,000 barrels of maturing whiskey.
According to documents obtained by local news outlet WDRB, construction is set to begin next year with the first warehouse and continue for five to eight years. The company intends to build three warehouses to age stocks in the first phase of the project before adding a production facility and two additional warehouses.
WDRB also reports that Angel’s Envy is considering adding tourism facilities and potentially joining the Kentucky Bourbon Trail with the new project. Angel’s Envy opened its existing downtown Louisville distillery on a $27 million investment in late 2016.
Currently, Angel’s Envy’s portfolio includes a Port barrel-finished Bourbon, a Rum cask-finished Rye, and a cask strength edition of its Bourbon. Bacardi acquired Angel’s Envy in 2015 for an undisclosed sum, with the brand joining the spirits giant’s Incubation Brands portfolio.
