July 3, 2019

A Jim Beam warehouse in Woodford County, Kentucky caught fire overnight, threatening 40,000 barrels of Bourbon. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, the fire began just after midnight eastern time, with the cause unknown. By 7:30 this morning, the fire department said it might need six to eight more hours to contain the blaze. No injuries were reported. Last summer, Sazerac also suffered a fire at its Bardstown warehouse that affected thousands of barrels.—Daniel Marsteller
