Wine Spectator: Wine And Spirits Auction Market Reaches $521 Million In 2019
February 7, 2020In 2019, worldwide wine auction totals (including sales conducted in the U.S., U.K., Geneva, and Hong Kong, plus online sales) rose to $521 million, up a solid 9% from $479 million in 2018. That’s bullish, but not quite as dramatic as 2018’s 26% surge. The last quarter of 2019 more than matched the impressive performances in the first half and third quarter of the year. Burgundy continued to boom, while Bordeaux remained a solid draw. But the biggest surge came from the small but growing market for rare spirits. Wine Spectator has the full story.—Peter Meltzer
