Bacardi Donates $5 Million To FIU’s Chaplin School Of Hospitality

February 21, 2020

Bacardi USA has donated $5 million to Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. The gift will establish a Bacardi Center of Excellence within the school dedicated to educational programming tailored to the spirits industry.

In addition to providing scholarship opportunities, the move will see the launch of a Bacardi Beverage Innovation Fund intended to establish a beverage curriculum and collaboration efforts between Bacardi USA and FIU faculty.

The gift will also expand programming under FIU’s CasaCuba initiative, with the goal of creating a “multidimensional Cuban cultural center and think tank that will be housed in a state-of-the-art facility at FIU’s main campus.” Bacardi was founded in Santiago de Cuba in 1862.—Daniel Marsteller
