Dan Buttling Named To Lead Stoli Group’s North America Business

April 23, 2020

Industry veteran Dan Buttling is assuming the helm as president and CEO of Stoli Group, with responsibility for the North American market. Buttling joined Stoli Group as CMO last October.

Prior to joining Stoli, Buttling spent 31 years at Diageo, where he was most recently CMO for the beer unit, overseeing brands like Guinness, Harp, Smithwick’s, and Smirnoff Ice. Before that he held a variety of marketing and sales roles at the drinks giant, including leading brand marketing for labels like Ketel One, Cîroc, Bulleit, and Johnnie Walker. In his new role, he succeeds Rudy Costello, who led the business for approximately two years.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to lead a talented team and deliver great performance across the company’s portfolio of high-quality premium spirits and wine,” Buttling told SND. “I’m also looking forward to working with our best-in-class distributor partners to drive growth on Stoli and promote an emerging group of super-premium brands, including Villa One Tequila, Elit vodka, and Kentucky Owl Bourbon and Rye.”

In the U.S., Stoli’s core vodka brand grew 2.9% to 1.9 million cases last year, according to Impact Databank. Stoli advanced by 3% in control states in the year-to-date through March, and leapt by 23% in IRI channels in the 12 weeks through March 23.—Daniel Marsteller
