Cuomo Tightens Restrictions On New York Bars And Restaurants

July 17, 2020

New York governor Andrew Cuomo on Thursday announced new restrictions on bars and restaurants, imposing a “three strikes and you’re closed” policy in New York City that aims to shutter businesses that don’t follow mask-wearing and social distancing guidelines.

“An establishment that receives three violations will be closed for business,” Cuomo told reporters at his daily briefing yesterday. “Egregious violations can still result in an immediate loss of liquor license, but three violations and you’re closed.” Cuomo also said that in the rest of New York state, restaurants and bars can only serve alcohol to customers who are ordering food for seated service.
