Chicago Loosens On-Premise Restrictions, As New York Opens Indoor Dining At 25% Capacity
September 30, 2020Chicago will allow bars to reopen for indoor service Thursday, among a number of other changes easing Covid-related restrictions in the Windy City. Under the updated rules, restaurants and bars will be able to sell alcohol until 1am, and restaurants that have had indoor capacity limited to 25% will now be permitted a maximum of 40%.
The limit of 50 total customers within one room or space at restaurants, venues and other establishments will remain in place, as will the limit of no more than six people per table. Bars may reopen indoor service at 25% capacity or 50 people, whichever is fewer. Elsewhere, Florida reopened bars to indoor service at full capacity last weekend, while New York reopens for indoor dining at 25% capacity as of today.—Daniel Marsteller
