Diageo To Open New Guinness Outpost In Chicago

Diageo Beer Co. USA is planning to develop a new Guinness brewery, restaurant and pub in Chicago’s Fulton Market neighborhood, targeting early 2023 for the opening. The Chicago Tribune reported that the 15,000-square-foot space will include a 10-barrel brewing system and feature a variety of beers made on-site as well as Irish pub fare.

With the new Chicago outpost, Diageo is looking to replicate the success of its Guinness Open Gate brewery and pub in Baltimore, which opened in 2018 on a $90 million investment. According to Impact Databank, Diageo Beer Co. USA ranked as the eighth-largest beer marketer in the U.S. last year, with volume up 7.5% to 35.9 million (2.25-gallon) cases.—Daniel Marsteller
