Wine Spectator To Unveil Its Top 10 Values Of 2021
January 7, 2022Wine Spectator has launched a new annual feature celebrating wines that overdeliver on quality for the price. The magazine has selected its Top 10 Values of 2021, capped by the Wine Value of the Year. All of the wines on the list rated 90 points or higher on Wine Spectator’s 100-point scale, cost $40 or less, and are made in large-enough quantities to be widely available.
Wine Spectator’s inaugural Wine Value of the Year is Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2021. Imported by Winebow, the kiwi Sauvignon Blanc retails at $17 and received a 93-point score from Wine Spectator, with 100,000 cases made and 45,000 cases imported. Allan Scott is part of a thriving New Zealand wine category in the U.S., which expanded by more than two-thirds from 2015-2020 to surpass 6 million cases, according to Impact Databank. Wine Spectator senior editor MaryAnn Worobiec spoke with Allan Scott co-owner and winemaker Josh Scott yesterday on Instagram Live.
Wine Spectator’s full list of the Top 10 Values of 2021 will be unveiled today at 11am eastern at WineSpectator.com.
