October 28, 2022•Upscale rum brand Flor de Caña is opening a U.S. import company, Luxury Spirits International LLC, helmed by William Grant and Frederick Wildman veteran Marc Hirten as president. The move is effective in January. Eduardo Pellas, fifth-generation family member of the Nicaragua-based company, thanked current importer William Grant & Sons for its dedication to building the Flor de Caña brand in the U.S. the past eight years, adding that the group is “excited to begin a new chapter for the brand with the opening of Luxury Spirits International LLC.” Flor de Caña has steadily expanded in the U.S. in recent years, with volume up 8% to 181,000 cases in 2021, according to Impact Databank.
•Champagne Billecart-Salmon is launching its newest prestige cuvée, the Elisabeth Salmon 2009. The rosé bubbly is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Aÿ, along with 45% Chardonnay Grand Cru from Côtes des Blancs. Retailing at $225 a bottle, Elisabeth Salmon 2009 is rolling out to retailers next month.
