March 23, 2023•Glen Grant, part of the Campari portfolio, is introducing a new 21-year-old single malt Scotch whisky, marking the oldest expression in its permanent range. Retailing at $360 a bottle, the newcomer is a blend of whiskies from Oloroso Sherry butts, hogshead, and ex-Bourbon barrels from Glen Grant’s Warehouse Number 4. It joins 10-, 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old whiskies in the Glen Grant range and, according to the company, “sets the tone for a range of innovative new releases set to be unveiled from 2023 onwards.”
•Juggernaut Wines, an Impact “Hot Brand” that’s part of the Bogle portfolio, is debuting a new Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Retailing at $20 a 750-ml., it’s the third offering in the Juggernaut line, joining the Juggernaut Russian River Pinot Noir and the signature Juggernaut Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon. According to Impact Databank, Juggernaut crossed a quarter-million cases in the U.S. last year on 21% growth.
•Georgetown, Kentucky-based Blue Run Spirits showed off plans for its planned distillery and headquarters, which will break ground this year. Projected to open in 2025, the buildings were designed by Copenhagen-based architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group, whose other notable projects include Google’s headquarters and the renowned restaurant Noma. Blue Run’s new facilities will feature a 35,000 square foot distillery and a 20,000 square foot rickhouse, built in a serpentine design called Meander that’s meant to evoke the journey of water from the Blue Run spring through the production process. Blue Run Spirits has launched 13 Bourbon and rye expressions since its debut in 2020, with volume reaching 21,000 9-liter cases last year.
•Heineken is launching Heineken Silver, its spin on a low-cal, low-carb, low-abv beer. Heineken Silver, rolling out this spring, is at 4% abv and features 3.2g of carbohydrates and 95 calories a 12-ounce serving. It will be available in 12-ounce slim cans, 12-ounce bottles, and 24-ounce cans wherever Heineken products are sold. It will be featured prominently at Heineken’s partnership events this year including Coachella, the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, and Formula 1 races, serving as the title sponsor for the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix in November.
