June 8, 2023•Pernod Ricard USA has launched Sainte Marguerite en Provence in the U.S. The brand sources its grapes from a 200-hectare (494-acre) vineyard in the Côtes-de-Provence AOC and uses the Grenache, Cinsault, and Rolle varietals. The winery produces two rosés, Symphonie and Fantastique, with both wines at 13% abv and the former retailing for $25 and the latter for $40. Sainte Marguerite en Provence’s wines will initially launch in New York, California, Florida, Texas, Illinois, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Maryland, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, and Virginia.
•Mendoza, Argentina-based Terrazas de los Andes, part of the Moët Hennessy portfolio, is getting a brand refresh, starting with its 2021 Reserva Malbec and Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon, which are set to launch in the U.S. this month. The rest of the collection will follow suit, first with the 2022 Reserva Chardonnay and Grand tier wines later this year, followed by the Parcels Collection early next year. The new packaging features a wrap-around label that pays tribute to the sheer rockfaces of the Andes. The bottle is also lighter, which is expected to reduce associated carbon emissions by 24%. Terrazas de los Andes grew 2% to just over 100,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•New York-based Hudson Whiskey, part of the William Grant & Sons range, is launching New York Straight Bourbon Whiskey 5 Year Old. It’s the brand’s second age-statement release, distilled from a mash bill of 95% corn and 5% malted barley and aged five years in American oak barrels. It joins Four Part Harmony, Bright Lights, Big Bourbon, Do The Rye Thing, Short Stack, and Back Room Deal in Hudson’s lineup. The 5 Year Old is at 46% abv and is priced at $50 a 750-ml., available at retail and through Hudson’s Single Barrel Program.
•Illinois-based Winesellers Ltd. has partnered with Piccini 1882, becoming the exclusive U.S. importer for the Italian winery’s namesake label. Winesellers will focus on Piccini’s wines from Tuscany including Brunello and a few Chianti bottlings, such as Piccini’s Chianti DOCG “Orange Label,” which retails for around $12, and the multi-region blend Memoro Rosso d’Italia ($15). Additionally, Winesellers will import Piccini’s Prosecco DOC “Orange Label” ($18), Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie DOC ($11), Chianti Classico DOCG ($18), and Sasso al Poggio Rosso Toscana IGT ($20), with additional wines coming to the U.S. later this summer.
•Memphis, Tennessee’s Morningside Brands LLC has launched Alma del Jaguar, a new Tequila with a portion of sales going to support Jaguar conservation groups. The brand currently has two offers, Blanco and Reposado Tequilas, each bottled at 40% abv and made from 100% blue agave at the Feliciano Vivanco y Asociados distillery in Jalisco. Both spirits are available through Seelbachs with the Blanco retailing for $50 and the Reposado retailing for $60.
