Beam Suntory Boosts Presence In Agave Spirits, Partnering With Mezcal Amarás
June 15, 2023Beam Suntory has added Mezcal Amarás to its import portfolio through a new strategic partnership between the two companies. Under the deal, for which terms weren’t disclosed, Beam Suntory will import Mezcal Amarás and distribute its products through the company’s existing distributor network in several states across the U.S. beginning July 1.
The Amarás portfolio includes the company’s namesake range made from Espadín agave, including Joven ($43 a 750-ml.), Reposado ($53), and Cupreata ($70) expressions; Amarás Logia, a series of higher-end mezcals made from a variety of agave plants ($100-$400); and Amarás Verde, an entry-level Espadín mezcal ($35).
“Our new strategic partnership with Mezcal Amarás in the U.S. is key for Beam Suntory as we continue to premiumize our spirits portfolio and focus on the fast-growing agave-based spirits category,” said Jessica Spence, president of North America at Beam Suntory. Total mezcal exports to the U.S. totaled 868,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank, up from just 57,000 cases a decade earlier.—Shane English
