News Briefs for June 29, 2023
June 29, 2023•Italian wine producer Mezzacorona announced new branding for its Stemmari wine brand. Debuting with the 2021 vintage now available nationally in the U.S. wholesale market, the Sicilian winery’s new labels include a circular symbol individualized to each varietal and a new design for the Stemmari name that features a mirroring effect on the two letter M’s to recall the shape of ancient columns. Stemmari’s flagship wines are Nero D’Avola and Grillo, both indigenous varietals native to Sicily. Mezzacorona’s portfolio also includes Rotari Trentodoc Metodo Classico sparkling wines and an eponymous label. The Mezzacorona flagship brand ranked 10th among all imported table wines in the U.S. by volume last year at just over 1 million cases.
•Bloomington, Indiana’s Oliver Winery has released a new Key Lime Pie wine, the latest release in the winery’s Bakery Series. The 8.3% abv wine is made with real lime juice and carries a suggested price of $12 a bottle. The wine joins Apple and Peach Pie in the Bakery series of dessert wines. Oliver’s latest release will be available across the brand’s 40-state distribution footprint, as well as online and at Oliver’s tasting room.
