Macallan Drives Edrington’s Sales To $1.4 Billion
June 29, 2023Edrington saw its core revenue top £1 billion for the first time in its fiscal year through March, with sales climbing 22% to £1.1 billion ($1.4b) and profit before tax up 43% to £388 million ($490m). Luxury single malt The Macallan continued to lead the company’s performance, with Edrington noting high demand for upscale expressions like The Macallan James Bond Collection, The Red Collection 77-year-old, and The Macallan M series. The Glenrothes, Highland Park, and Naked Malt also performed well across key markets, growing value ahead of volume, Edrington added.
According to Impact Databank, The Macallan neared 1 million cases globally last year on 7% growth, despite a decline in the U.S. following strong growth the previous year. Edrington’s Brugal rum and Noble Oak Bourbon were both on the rise stateside in 2022, with Brugal now over 100,000 cases. In April, Edrington took a majority interest in Wyoming Whiskey, gaining 80% of the company for an undisclosed sum. The move builds on the 35% stake Edrington took in the craft spirits player back in 2018.
