Key Companies On The Move In Maryland As Rec Sales Begin
July 11, 2023Maryland is the latest adult-use cannabis market to come online, and sales got off to a solid start, reaching $21 million in their first week, including $10 million over the July 4 weekend. Among the nearly 100 medical dispensaries that received dual licensing to open adult-use sales are a bevy of storefronts from key multistate operators.
Curaleaf, Green Thumb Industries, and Ascend Wellness all have four adult-use locations up and running. Curaleaf’s stores are located in Montgomery Village, Frederick, Columbia, and Reisterstown, while Green Thumb has outposts in Hagerstown, Joppa, Silver Spring, and Bethesda, and Ascend has opened in Aberdeen, Crofton, Ellicott City, and Laurel. Ascend acquired its Maryland dispensaries this spring ahead of the adult-use launch and has since rebranded them.
Meanwhile, Trulieve has three dispensaries in Maryland, operating in Halethorpe, Rockville, and Lutherville-Timonium, and Cookies opened adult-use sales at its namesake Baltimore outlet, its sole location in the state. Maryland’s recreational sales are expected to climb into the billions of dollars within a few years.
