•Republic National Distributing Co. (RNDC) has announced that Jay Johnson, west region president, will retire at the beginning of 2024. Johnson has spent over three decades at RNDC and served in a variety of roles including executive vice president, South Texas, as well as president of the distributor’s southwest region. “Throughout his tenure, Jay has been an inspiring leader, setting a high standard for his peers,” said COO Bob Hendrickson. “While his contributions have undoubtedly made a mark on this company, I will most value the legacy of leadership that he will leave behind.”

•Heaven’s Door Ascension, an American single malt from New Riff, and newcomers from Glenrothes and Starlight Distillery are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest weekly roundup. The website has all the details.

•Chilean wine brand Root:1, part of the Winebow Imports portfolio, has unveiled a new design for its estate bottled range. Root:1’s new bottles feature engravings of the texture of old rootstocks, meant to evoke the winery’s old vines and underscore its passion for honoring the land. The new packaging features simple paper labels that convey the brand’s estate bottled designation and a Wines of Chile Sustainability Seal. Root:1 includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Carménère, Pinot Noir, and a Heritage Red Blend, all available nationally and retailing at $13 a bottle.

•Bardstown, Kentucky’s Lux Row Distillers has announced the August release of Lux Row Four Grain Double Single Barrel Bourbon, a new allocated release. The whiskey blends single barrels of Lux Row’s wheated and ryed Bourbons, both of which aged four years, before bottling at 57.5% abv. The new whiskey carries a suggested price of $80 a 750-ml. 7,500 6-pack cases will hit shelves beginning next month.

•Alexandria, Virginia-based importer Empson USA is adding Dal Cero and Tenuta Montecchiesi wines to its range. The importer now represents all three estates of the Dal Cero Family: Dal Cero in Valpolicella (Veneto), Corte Giacobbe in Soave (Veneto), and Tenuta Montecchiesi in Cortona (Tuscany). Offerings available nationwide include Dal Cero Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Dal Cero Valpolicella DOC, Dal Cero Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC, Tenuta Montecchiesi ‘Miralý’ Rosé Toscana IGT, and Tenuta Montecchiesi Vermentino Chardonnay Toscana IGT. The recent additions follow Empson’s acquisition of a stake in Sicily’s Jankara Winery and the inclusion of PoggioargentierA in the importer’s portfolio.
