•Nikka Whisky, imported to the U.S. by Hotaling & Co., says it will increase whisky allocations to the U.S., as Japanese whiskies continue to grow in popularity. The announcement follows Nikka’s years-long process of increasing production for its core whiskies and coincides with the distillery’s 90th anniversary next year. Nikka recently launched Yoichi Single Malt 10-year-old ($175) and is next preparing to launch its 2023 Nikka Discovery Series Limited Edition. Nikka’s core line includes around 10 expressions, including Nikka from the Barrel, Nikka Coffey Grain whisky, and Nikka Coffey Malt whisky, among others.

•Organic vegan wine brand Kind of Wild has brought on celebrity chef Katie Lee Biegel as a co-founder and partner in the brand. Kind of Wild’s portfolio includes nine wines sourced from six countries including a Spanish sparkling wine, a French rosé, white wines from the U.S. and France, and reds from Italy, Argentina, the U.S., and Spain. The brand, developed by Adam and Jordan Sager of Winesellers Ltd., initially launched as a DTC exclusive brand but has since expanded into national retail and grocery chains.

•Andrew Haugen has been named head winemaker at Odette Estate, part of the PlumpJack group of wineries. Haugen joined Odette Estate Winery in 2015, progressing from cellar master to enologist to assistant winemaker and now assuming the role of head winemaker. Haugen will oversee all the daily winemaking operations for the Odette and Adaptation labels. Odette is based in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. In addition to its limited production namesake brand, in 2021 it introduced Adaptation as an entry point to the Odette portfolio and the broader PlumpJack collection of wineries.
