Craft Brewing and Distilling News for July 31, 2023
July 31, 2023•New York’s Right Coast Spirits has announced Margarita Whips, a new line of Tequila-based RTDs. The new range launches with four flavors—Lime, Strawberry, Cranberry, and Mango—all at 7.5% abv. Margarita Whips are available in 8-can variety packs in 19 states across the U.S. The company, a collaboration between Flying Dog, Harpoon, and Saranac craft breweries, previously entered the spirits-based RTD market with Vodka Whips, also available in four flavors: Pineapple, Orange, Watermelon, and Wild Berry.
•Boston Beer Company reported a 3% decline in depletions for its fiscal second quarter, a 4.5% drop in shipments to 2.3 million barrels, and a 2.1% dip in net revenue to $603.3 million. The company attributed the drop in depletions and shipments to challenges faced by Truly Hard Seltzer, Angry Orchard, Hard Mountain Dew, and Samuel Adams brands, with Twisted Tea (bolstered by the 4th of July holiday) partially offsetting other losses. Year-to-date, the company’s net revenue was down 3.2% to $1.013 billion, compared to the same period in 2022. Shipment volume was similarly in decline, by 5.8%, to 3.9 million barrels.
