News Briefs for August 7, 2023

•Robert Trone-owned Kansas Fine Wine & Spirits LLC has purchased Lukas Fine Wine & Spirits in Overland Park, Kansas. Lukas will now be a Total Wine Spirits Beer & More location with renovations scheduled through 2024, though the store will remain open during the changes. The 40,000 square foot store will stock 8,000 wines, 3,000 spirits, and 2,500 beers. When the conversion is complete, the store will also have a dedicated wine cellar for high-end and rare wines, and a walk-in humidor. Lukas’ current staff will remain employed at the new Total Wine. Financial terms were not disclosed.

•Legent Yamazaki Cask, High West Campfire, Barrell Rye Release, McCarthy’s 6 Year Old, and newcomers from Great Jones and Still Austin are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest weekly roundup. The website has all the details.
