August 18, 2023•Pernod Ricard-owned Jefferson’s Bourbon has announced Tropics Aged in Humidity, the latest release in its line of whiskies that experiment with different climates for aging Bourbon. The 52% abv offering is drawn from a lot of 720 barrels that were first aged in Kentucky before being transported via ship to Singapore, where they spent 18 months maturing in the region’s hot and humid climate. Jefferson’s Bourbon Tropics Aged in Humidity will hit shelves across the U.S. in limited quantities beginning in September, with a suggested retail price of $100 a 750-ml. Last year, Jefferson’s was up 11.5% to 177,000 cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
•St. Helena, California’s C. Mondavi & Family has launched Aviana, a new globally-sourced wine brand created by Mondavi family matriarch Rosa’s five great-granddaughters. The line is kicking off with three wines—a Spanish Verdejo, a Portuguese red blend, and a French Cabernet Sauvignon— all priced at $20 a bottle and sourced from the 2022 vintage. In an effort to give back, Aviana will make annual donations to Equity Now, an international network dedicated to ending violence against women and girls. Aviana’s wines are rolling out now to retailers across the U.S.
•Lawrenceburg, Indiana-based Ross & Squibb Distillery is launching Rossville Union Bottled in Bond Straight Rye Whiskey. The addition to the Rossville Union line was made with liquid selected by Ross & Squibb master distiller Ian Stirsman. It’s aged six years and bottled at 50% abv, made from a mashbill of 51% rye and 49% barley malt. Rossville Union Bottled in Bond is set for a limited release of 3,000 6-bottle cases, available at select retailers for $50 a 700-ml. Ross & Squibb is part of Luxco, the brands division of MGP.
•Country musician Kenny Chesney’s Blue Chair Bay rum is introducing a limited-edition 16-year-old rum from the U.S. Virgin Islands. Launching in commemoration of the brand’s tenth anniversary, the new entry retails at $60 a bottle and carries an abv of 40%. Blue Chair Bay 16-year-old is rolling out in a supply of 6,600 bottles and will hit select retailers next month. Blue Chair Bay has annual U.S. volume above 200,000 cases, according to Impact Databank.
