•Yellow Tail has partnered with actress and singer Victoria Justice to promote its revamped Moscato offering. The updated wine is billed as sweeter and more flavorful than its predecessor. Justice appears in the brand’s new English and Spanish-language Moscato creative and social media posts that appeared on her channels, which have a combined 37.8 million followers. The relaunch of Yellow Tail Moscato comes amid renewed interest in the varietal. Deutsch notes that Moscato has become very important within the $4-7.99 price tier and is currently the fourth best selling white wine across all varietals, accounting for 11% of all white varietal volume in its category. The company added that since reformulating the Moscato and announcing the partnership with Justice, Yellow Tail has seen accelerated growth in Moscato, currently up 10.5% in Deutsch’s fiscal year to date.

•Just days after announcing a deal to purchase Napa Valley’s Rombauer, E.&J. Gallo has made another move in upscale California wine, buying the Massican label for an undisclosed sum. Massican founder and winemaker Dan Petroski will stay on and “continue to control winemaking, sourcing, and brand vision,” according to the company, “while benefitting from Gallo’s extensive vineyard holdings and grower relationships. Through Gallo’s Lux Wines sales team, Massican will expand its distribution footprint to reach more customers and consumers,” Gallo added. Specializing in white wines, Napa-based Massican produced 7,500 cases last year.

•Wesake, the brand founded by Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Pablo Rivera, is introducing a new premium sake, Sakura Junmai Ginjo. The vegan, gluten-free offering has an abv of 14.5% and is available nationwide at select retailers and on Wesake’s website, retailing at $25 a 720-ml. bottle. Wesake has been known for its canned sake, which Rivera said “has been a catalyst for raising awareness, fostering trial, and driving occasion expansion,” with the Sakura expression adding “consolidation and refinement for our offering.”
