Report: Pernod Mulls Sale Of Australia And New Zealand Wines

September 20, 2023

Pernod Ricard has initiated a strategic review of its Australia and New Zealand wine assets with an eye toward a divestiture, the Australian Financial Review reported. The outlet said Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan have been tapped to review the business, which includes brands like Jacob’s Creek, Brancott, and Stoneleigh.

Pernod also reportedly shopped the Australia/New Zealand portfolio back in 2019, but no sale came to fruition. The largest of the brands, Jacob’s Creek, ranked 25th last year by volume among all wine brands globally, according to Impact Databank, at 4.2 million cases, down from 6.3 million cases in 2015.—Daniel Marsteller
