September 25, 2023•North Carolina’s Midnight Moon has announced Moonshakes, the distillery’s new line of moonshine and cream liqueurs. The 17% abv liqueurs come in four flavors—Apple Pie, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Brownie, and Holiday Nog, the line’s seasonal release—with a suggested price of $20-$22. The new line was tested in North Carolina ahead of a wider release and, according to the company, Midnight Moon has sold 15,000 cases of Moonshakes in the first six weeks in its home market. Moonshakes are rolling out in New York, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Michigan, Iowa, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Massachusetts, with Nevada, California, and Connecticut slated to be added looking ahead.
•Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has announced the retirement of John Klein, executive vice president and general manager, Pacific Northwest, effective at the end of the year. He has worked for Southern Glazer’s for 13 years with over 35 years in the beverage alcohol industry in total. Prior to beginning his career at Southern Wine & Spirits in November 2010, Klein served as president of Young’s Market Company. Southern Glazer’s will announce Klein’s successor in the near future.
•Canadian Iceberg Vodka Corp. has appointed New Jersey-based Worldwide Libations as its exclusive U.S. importer. The lineup includes its namesake Iceberg Vodka as well as Open Coast Gin and Stalk & Barrel Canadian Whisky. Iceberg Vodka is made using water from iceberg ice collected at sea. It retails for $15 a 750-ml., while Open Coast Gin is priced at $25 a 750-ml. Stalk & Barrel meanwhile is a small-batch Canadian whisky from Ontario, aged in ex-Bourbon casks for up to eight years; it sells for $28 a 750-ml. Worldwide Libations will act as a full-service national importer for the three brands.
